Electrician in UK going to Australia in october on WHV (417) can i work as an electrician?

Right, Basically im a Qualified Electrician in the UK and have been for 3years im going to australia in october on a working holiday visa. can i work as an electrician when i go out there or do i have to apply for a licence? if so can i apply for a licence over here? im looking at starting in Sydney or Perth and traveling unless i find my feet straight away.

any information would be great!!!!

If I were you I'd check with Australia House in London as the Australian Immigration authorities are exremely strict and if you don't have all the correct documents they might stop you at the airport

I think you need a license on a 417 visa and it costs something like $4,000, or so I was told by a sparky out there.
