Hi, I'm an italian girl. my best friend and I are planning a trip to Cornwall (specifically Truro) in Spring. we're coming for a holiday, of course, but we also would like to explore he possibility to find a work and an apartment and stay. can anybody give us some informations about places worth to be visited in Truro and/or life in Truro (is it expensive, is it easy to find some work and so on)? thanks.

Truro itself is the only city in Cornwall, but it is not very "touristy", and doubt if there will be much short-term accommodation there. Apart from the Cathedral, Museum, Hall for Cornwall, and shopping there is not much for tourists to do there. But in the surrounding countryside are a lot of theme parks, historic castles and beaches.

I suggest you try to get seasonal work in the hospitality/tourist industry with live-in accommodation. Perhaps in a caravan park on the coast, it can be within easy reach of Truro. Say Falmouth or Newquay, although Newquay is tacky, locals don't go there. Or in a hotel. It is difficult to get work anywhere in the UK at the moment, even for locals. In Cornwall, jobs tend to be seasonal and paid at minimum wage. Accommodation in Cornwall is expensive. You have to compete against retired people who come here to settle, and holidaymakers. A lot of local properties have been turned into holiday accommodation.

Truro is the administrative centre of Cornwall..that`s where all the council headquarters are...It has a wonderful elegant "perpendicular" Cathedral .You might be lucky enough to find work in an Italian restaurant..you might even give them an aire of respectability, and authenticity !

Cornwall, for work prospects, for 2 Italian girls...Head for Newquay...Surf City UK you will love it..and a the surfers will love you..so be prepared if you know what I mean

Try the local Tourist Information Office and ask them to send you details about accommodation - Contact details for them are on the internet
