Just need some ideas of sea life attractions in the UK that are worth visiting. I know of the sea life centres but don't actually know if they are any good or not. There is also "The Deep" in Hull but I've been told it is pretty average. Any other suggestions that are worth seeing please..............

The Deep in Hull is brilliant!!! But its not an oceanarium - its more of a history of the oceans. My family went last week and I am definately going back.. There are loads and loads of interactive displays - a 3D cinema which is fab - a BRILLIANT lift which goes up through the biggest tank you have ever seen with enormous sharks and sword fish and rays...

The one in Bournemouth is much smaller, but is good if you like big tanks with lots of fish - and the ocean walkway is pretty cool.

There is one in Kings Lynn (or Hunstanton?) in Norfolk, but it was REALLY tired and old. The outside bit with the penguins and sealions is really sad - but I think they do some looking after sick seals etc there.

I think there was one in Skegness too - but I've not been there for years...

In summary, if you want just fish tanks and stuff like that, then Bournemouth is great... if you want something a bit more educational, then you CANNOT beat the Deep.

Edit - thumbs down?? what did I do to deserve that??

As the first answerer says, the Blue Planet aquarium is a must-see. It's at Ellesmere Port, near-ish Liverpool. It's well worth a visit but tickets are a little pricey.

The Sea Life centres are always a good day out. The underwater tunnels are particularly good and my favourites are the ones at Blackpool and Alton Towers.

Although it's not got any fish, Living Coasts is amazing. It's in Torquay and it's a giant netted dome. All sorts of seabirds can fly free in it and there are penguins and seals too. My favourite sealife attraction of the lot.

The Bournemouth Oceanarium is pretty famous, I really liked it there :] Otherwise there's The London Aquarium. And failing those, I suggest... the sea! =]

Khimaera is spot on. I love the Bournemouth Oceanareum. The main tank is excellent and includes sharks and two turtles.

I spend all my time at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden and dining at The Savoy.
