My friend keeps saying it's Brittish, and I say it's British! GHAH... Please help me set this stupid thing straight?

I can see where the confusion may have occurred.



The correct spelling is British with one 't'. However, in the 1776 Declaration of Independence it is spelt Brittish. This is a mis-spelling.

Any dictionary (or in fact a simple Google search) would show that the correct spelling is 'British'. Obvious really, since it derives from 'Britain' (again, one 't')
