Since the retail industry is pretty much dead in terms of employment?
I mean seriously, their not recruiting anyone, who except cv/applications if that.
Where else is their to look/apply?
Dont even mention the job center because that is a waste of time (they only want you to sign on the dole, not effectively help you find work)
And dont even mention Job agency's, i been down that road last year and it was the most pointless 1-1/2 month spent.

Totaljobs.com has given me the best head start in terms of of job hunting. Load up your CV so agencies can contact you, register for jobs matches emailed to you regularly and for regular email updates of new jobs that match your criteria, you can choose the frequency of these too.

Good luck :-)

Retail seems dead at the moment.

If (like me) you're interested in an industrial, technical or manufacturing job, I find the best way is to go on the Applegate website, get names and addresses for all the companies that might have the sort of jobs you're interested in, and bung off your CV (by post, not e-mail!) with a covering letter to a named person at each company.

Then, if you've had no response by then, you can phone up a few days later to see if they got your CV and ask whether they're interested.

Employers are supposed to prefer this direct approach, and I personally find it much more satisfactory than using agencies and generic job websites like monster and fish4 etc, where you often find yourself dealing with spam and chasing jobs that don't exist. (Employers, especially small employers, hate using agencies too!)

If you're not interested in tech or manufacturing companies as listed on Applegate, find a similar website that specialises in the sort of industry you want to work in. There are also business directories that you should be able to access in your local library.

I keep trying monster.co.uk and fish4jobs.co.uk but there no good for jobs either.

All I'm doing at the moment is dropping cv's and apps in with no luck there either

Good luck finding a job

It's very hard out there and gets you down after a while.

When a politician can claim £118,000 per year for staying in her sister's house,no wonder we are becoming a nation of cynics.

This country,or rather it's politicians are a disgrace.

employment agencies are the quickest route into work. one time i spent all day traipsing round town registering with loads of them. i had work before the end of the week. it all depends on how badly you want work
