Whats the best way to get to Snowdon?
Is it best to get a train to Betws Y Coed and walk the rest of the way? or is there a bus that takes you to the foot of the mountain?
I dont drive a car so driving there is out.

Thanks everyone!!

depends on which route up the mountain you want to take ( the easiest route is from Llanberis)

Hi, I am from Bangor, But now live in Lancs, Your best bet depends where you are coming from, get a train to Caernarvon, & a bus from Caernarvon to LLanberis, You can either walk the Train route from the Housing estate near the train station, Or you can take the Bus up the LLanberis pass, it stops outside the Y.H.A. There is a trail opp the Y.H.A. that takes you the easy route & shortest. If you decide to go from Betws Y Coed take the (A5) to Caple Curig Turn Left on the (A4086) follow that for app 6/7 Miles you will then come to the back side of Snowdon & will join the LLanberis pass with the Y.H.A. On your right. Trebor

Well, if you go by train to Betws you can get a Snowdon Sherpa bus service to Pen-y-Pass and walk up, or if you go to Bangor, then get a KMP 9A or 88, you can alight at Llanberis and go up on the Snowdon Mountain Railway. The Choice is yours really!

Trebor's answer is almost correct, that is if you are entering Wales from the North coast area. The trouble is that the train terminates at Bangor, not Caernarfon, so the bus would have to be caught in Bangor to Llanberis. If you come out of Bangor Rail station, cross the main road, walk down the street until you see a church on your right hand side (probably almost half a mile), you are almost at where all the bus stands are. (limited bus services on a Sunday!)
