Yes Berwick-upon-Tweed in further north than the Mull of Galloway which I thinks is the most southern Scottish location

Yes, because the most northerly part of the Scottish-English border is on the east coast (just north of Berwick on Tweed), whereas the most southerly point is on the west coast at Iron Bridge (just south of Gretna). The line between the two points goes generally south west, so that the Berwick on Tweed (England) is further north that Gretna (Scotland).
