People go to Newquay to have a good time. They go to Torquay to die! Torquay is a paradise for the over 70s.

Newquay has good beaches and little coves, seperated by rocky outcrops and even some little caves, good for beach parties. Surfing is good too, lots of surfing shops in town, and the British Championships have been held there. It's a favourite for young people, and has a big night-life scene in season...ok-ish out-of-season....but there's a bigger variety of things to do in Torquay, and all around the Torbay towns, which also have great beaches, and good night-life, but not as raved-up as Newquay. Torquay used to be a 'quiet' place, but it's not any more. Brixham, close by, has a full-size replica of the Golden Hind (Francis Drake's ship),and loads more stuff, fun bars, and good eating. The famous Babbacombe Model Village is nearby as well ...huge,fun,and full of visual jokes...great model train running round it too....not a 'stuffy-old-place'...amusing,and good day out. The Eden Project is just inland from Torquay...absolutely fabulous, inside and out....http://www.edenproject.com/visiting-eden/whats-here/index. ... National Express goes to Newquay, and all the Torbay towns..Torquay here, with the other Torbay towns on the menu at left. ... http://www.englishriviera.co.uk/site/about-the-area/torquay ... ... .Newquay here... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newquay ...Booking a holiday is the expensive way...all you need is a coach ticket from National Express (cheap rate for under 25's),and book a B&B or hotel yourself.or even a backpacker hostel for a really tight budget...fave places for young people, and you meet folks from all over the world...I use them all over UK and Europe...cheap and handy..For any holidays, it's much cheaper doing your own bookings, and you get what you want, with no agents' fees..... Hostelbookers does hostels and budget hotels all over the world. I've used them in four continents without a single problem anywhere...small deposit up front and balance on arrival. Every place I booked had me on the arrivals list, with a record of the deposit paid, even in Africa and South America...There are loads of hostels in UK,in all areas. Not YHA,they're independant, privately run, usually by people who do a lot of travelling themselves... good places. Most of them have kitchens where you can cook your own stuff, and save even more cash, and some of them have their own bar as well, sometimes cheaper than the town bars..... http://www.hostelbookers.com ... http://www.nationalexpress.com ... .
