I've a couple of English friends that I met in England when I used to live in Sheffield and they always talk about how England is the most beautiful country in the world. I never tell them it's not just because I don't want to argue, but honestly, England is far from being the most beautiful country in the world. France, Spain, China and Italy ( my country (are usually more visited every
year and you can't compare London to my home town which is Rome.

By "England" you probably mean the UK, but ignoring that, of course some English people think England is the most beautiful country in the world.

It is a strong candidate.

Ever been to

The Lake District

Northumberland

The North Yorkshire Moors

Teesdale

The Yorkshire Dales

The Peak District

The Cotswolds

The World Heritage Site The Jurassic Coast

Dartmoor

Exmoor

Bodmin Moor

The Cornish Coast ?

If you include the rest of the UK then we are definitely talking about one of the most beautiful countries in the world.

Britain is definitely one of the most beautiful countries in the World, having an enormous variety of beautiful and different natural landscapes within a relatively small country. I think it is time you explored it properly. You will not be disappointed.

Try the following:-

The Surrey Hills www.surreyhills.org

South Shropshire - the Long Mynd, The Stiperstones, Wenlock Edge www.visitsouthshropshire.co.uk

The Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley. www.visitforestofdean.co.uk

The Black Mountains, Brecon Beacons, Snowdonia (Wales) www.visitwales.co.uk

The Highlands, the Cairngorns, Isle of Skye (Scotland) www.visitscotland.com

The Jurassic Coast (Dorset) www.jurassiccoast.org

do you realise you have not actually asked a question...

so your little rave is your opinion and not a question

that said the thing is most people in most countries would also say that their own country was the most beautiful in the world and the english are no different

it is good that you do not want to argue as it shows good manners and intelligence because it is an issue that is pointless to argue

there are some pretty fabulous parts of the world and for me being as sydney is my place I would feel quite able to say it is the most beautiful harbour city in the world because of the harbor the same as you could say your place rome is the most beautiful because of the buildings and the roman people which are definately more beautiful than the english people...

I'm from England, so I'll give you my opinion:

It is a lot better than other places, but there are a lot nicer places aswell.

My parents own a villa in Turkey, and the scenery there is better than any view in England! And there are also places like Sydney, which has Sydney harbour and the opera house which look fantastic!

it is strange,

1, when a foreigner boasts his country, you feel pround of your own

2, when you are living for a long time in your home city and happen to bump into a foreigner, you complain a lot of your city.

3,as a chinese myself, i totally have no idea how china comes to be an exotic traveling hot spot ? when i browse the Lonely Planet China, i will smile at it, but so what, i will never go for a second time any famous scenery in China recommended by anyone.

4, such as hongkong......oh ,no , thanks, that is too simillar to my city, i will never go to there unless for business

5,British people are rich , so they have the capability to go around the whole world , so , on the contrary, or on the whim, some of them choose to discover only the land around their hometown and seldom go abroad, i guess this is a PRIDE(inocuous but i show comtempt to).

6,you may see how the chinese newly upshots compare how many countries they have traveled , seems like the more the better for them .... of course no chinese will bother to be pround of their own land and focus on there.

All personal opinion, isn't it? For instance, I think parts of middle France are flat and long and boring to cross. I like Spain, butsome of it is dry and plain as well and many towns, while they may have interesting monuments, tend to have a lot of sprawling half finished building around them.

I think Sheffield, where you were is pretty ugly...but the Peak District next door is stunning

Compared to London, Rome is boring, small and provincial. Yes,it has wonderful history and architecture but London has 1000 times more diversions, business possibilities, atmosphere and vibe. London is a world city. Rome is just the capital of Italy. (I am Czech. My own capital is beautiful also but I prefer London.)

Scotland is beautiful. I have travelled, but not as much as many on here, yet when I came home I saw so much of other countries here in Britain and sometimes wondered where I was, here or there. Everything was in miniture here.

Not even close............... But they're islanders so what do they know.

"British people are rich"

Brits are some of the least affluent Western Europeans..... and 9 out of 10 of Northern Europe's poorest cities are in Britain.

Whatever rocks your boat - it is really just a matter of opinion and preference. I have been to Rome, and personally prefer London.
