There is only ONE lake in Scotland - the Lake of Monteith.



I suspect that there are no lakes in Northern Ireland.



Which leaves England and Wales and I would guess that these number in the thousands.

I don't know if anyone's counted ... there are plenty, from very little lakes up to bigger ones like Loch Ness (loch is the Scottish word for lake) ... there's an area of England called the Lake District where there are quite a number of good-sized lakes

Depends on how you define a lake! eg there is only one lake called a lake in the Lake District! Most there are called meres.
