If I want to send a letter, probably A4 size to Singapore, how should I do it, in terms of stamps? Or would it be better to go to the post office and ask, and how much should I be expecting to pay?

The post office do have their own website which details the cost but even so you will probably need to go to the post office to get an airmail stamp.
It depends on the weight but a couple of quid should be more than enough.
