I suppose it depends what you are looking for in a theme park. For thrill seekers, Thorpe Park has a good range of adrenalin rides although limited for those under 1.4m height requirements. Alton Towers is a good all rounder with adrenalin & family rides and in lovely surroundings with a waterpark next door. Drayton Manor offers a limited number of adrenalin rides, has a wonderful Thomas Land for younger guests an extensive play areas and a zoo.
Whatever you decide, there are plenty of deals and discounts available to bring the entrance prices down. Check out the Insider Guides at topdogdays for hints and tips to beat the queues.

Alton and Drayton are for younger kids and families even though they do have some FAB fastrack rides.
Thorpe Park is more for older people specifically 8-16 or older people.

If you get get to Alton Towers when it is quiet... it is pretty epic.
Drayton manor is great in the winter... barely anyone else there and all the rides are pretty reliable. Thorpe park is nice too but can get over crowded.

I've not been as I don't think the rides are really good. Alton Towers may be really overcrowded but it's one of the most fun days you'll ever have.
