Generally, over here in the UK, people are "into" the same things that the americans and canadians like. The fashion is very similar and people over-here aspire to look as good as your "A-list celebs" like Nicole Richie, Micha Barton, and our Bristish Magazines are full of pictures of them. As far as music goes, people listen to alot of American bands/artists, popular ones at the moment are the mainly commercial ones such as My Chemical Romance. Hellogoodbye, Rhianna, Fall Out Boy, Hip-hop artists, RnB artists etc are also popular. As far as other music goes which is British, the indie scene is becoming more and more popular, bands such as the hoosiers and kasabian are popular, or lily allen. Also popular is techno-rave music, which is also having an effect on peoples style. Ultra-violet clothes are really popular, especially long t's and very colourful skinnyjeans with pumps or nike trainers.

As far as customs go, britain is becoming more and more americanised. The obsession with tea is now turning to coffee with the help of Starbucks. The good old doyle (a thin piece of paper which is really very decorative which is put under cakes on plates) is dying out, and more and more american TV shows dominate the english channels. The bristish still have though, the obsession with the weather, especially now with the flooding that has taken place lately here, mainly in england. But, other hot topics of conversation are bush, blair and now brown.

Britains are also fairly into comedy, shows such as Mock the week, never mind the buzzcocks and have i got news for you? are firm favourites. As well as the comedians "French and Saunders". (look up the shows and French and saunders on youtube... brilliant clips there).

Hope that helps!

Rule No.1 = have manners, "please" and "thank you". And be patient when in a line (queue), cos it's a British trait, we are very good at it ! You can listen to BBC radio online (see link below) - the best of the lot is Chris Evan's show from 5pm-7pm (UK primetime) Mon-Fri on Radio 2. It's won awards, and the DJ is a well known entrepreneur. Please note Radio 2 is the most widely listened Radio station in the UK with millions tuning in.....................but the link has many other stations with different types of music that you might like and the BEST of all, there is NO advertisements!

Traveling in England is a breeze for American tourists. The culture and attitudes are very similar, so u run little risk of offending anyone or sticking out.

UKers are far more into the dance/electronica scene than here in the US. They are also FAR snappier dressers. so, the slippers and torn jeans thing wont get u style points out there.

they also like to drink....a lot. so, start prepping ur liver right now (provided ur of legal drinking age).

The main thing that you might like to brush up on is the language differences - they can be quite confusing. I got called a "punk" the other day by an American, and replied that I didn't listen to the Sex Pistols.

And don't forget they've made it illegal to have f'ags indoors now - we all have to do it outdoors ;) (in Britain a f'ag is a cigarette)

And probably a few of the biggest things not to do are

- Talk loudly

- Say y'all

- Critise the UK and say that the US is better

- Support Bush

- Dress in a hawaiian shirt and shorts

These are the UK charts - http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/singles.shtml

we are actually not that distinctive from the remainder of the English speaking international, case in point he won't think of your unusual in case you say thank you particularly of cheers We shake arms as quickly as we meet, ask the form you're. I heavily doubt you will offend him so do not hassle a lot
