You can drive on it for up to 1 year after your first arrival in the UK. By the end of that time you will be required to have passed the UK driving test and got a UK licence if you are to continue driving.

As others have said, your licence will be valid for one year from the date of arrival here in the UK...many people from America come here and are able to hire cars regardless of the fact that we drive on the opposite side of the road. You would find however, that our driving rules can be different from those you are used to...for instance there is no way on earth that you would be able to go through a red light whether you are turning or not unless you are directed to do so by a police officer.
It's worth pointing out that you have to be at least 17 to be able to drive a car on a public highway in the UK and that you would have difficulty hiring a car if you are under 21...in fact most hire companies would require you to be at least 25.
If you intend to drive here you may find it useful to brush up on our highway code...
1 year, you need to take the test for the uk license. be aware the British driving test are **** end backwards, they are based on what gearbox the car has. If you take the test in a auto, that's all you can drive autos. you will have to take another test to drive a manual.

yes for one year only. And over in the Uk most cars are manual. So if you can only drive Automatic. No. You need to ask for an automatic car.

Doubt it, they drive on the right side. It'll be lucky if they let you
drive there though!
