Question:
How do I get a refund for a hotel booking when the website booked the wrong date?

I booked a hotel through lastminute and entered the date we wanted to stay,. Through the process of paying, the website reset the date. I tried to contact the hotel but they didn't answer the phone and I couldn't leave a message and lastminutes call centre was closed. I immediately emailed the booking website and then rang when they opened to explain. I have now been advised we are being charged the full amount as it is within the cancellation penalty time. I am really angry as this was a website issue. Can anyone advise? Many thanks

Nothing you can do unless you can prove that it was a website issue and not you accidentally brushing your touchpad or accidentally pushing the arrow keys.

The last thing that lastminute.com does before booking is to show you a summary of your booking to check, accept and confirm and once you've done that you've committed.

With its extensive parks and somewhat equable weather maintaining conditions slight throughout every season, Vancouver is really a heaven and now, you've the opportunity to discover it with hotelbye . Vancouver is boasts a active cultural life. One of many places worth visited in Vancouver is Granville Island. When primarily industrial, Granville Island is currently a booming middle of task with a comfortable and distinctive atmosphere. Musicians and retailers have transferred in to converted warehouses alongside houseboats, cinemas, galleries, and restaurants. The Granville Island Public Market is among typically the most popular attractions offering good fresh fruit and vegetables, seafood, and a good selection of other specialties along with ready-to-eat items. Perhaps not really an island, the arts heart is linked to residential places by one path and footbridges to the south, and to the Downtown peninsula (across Fake Creek) by ferry.

I used a machine to make a booking. The machine did not work. I paid and the machine took my money.

Next time when trying to save a little. Try using a human. They are called travel agents and reservation clerks. Part of the extra charge is to help out when these situations happen.

You are angry at a COMPUTER PROGRAM it could care less how you feel. You tried to save money by doing it on your own. Most times it works. THIS TIME you pay the penalty for not using a human in the first place.

Not the answer you want but you are dealing with a COMPUTER PROGRAM. it took your money and you willingly gave it your money. The machine did not make a mistake. It does what it is PROGRAMMED to do. TAKE YOUR MONEY. The perils of CHEAP ,LOW COST, BARGAIN DAY,SALE PRICE, DISCOUNT,PAY LESS,NO FRILLS travel booking sites.

Sorry there is not a generic answer to your situation. Many websites, many different rules. If paid by credit card maybe your card company can help.

Part of cheap is NO REFUND

Part of paying more is changing your itinerary will low or no penalties.

Part of paying a little more comes with HUMAN to help you.

You can try to contact the hotel and the customer service team over at lastminute.com but it's unlikely they'll do anything as websites always have a page where you click to confirm your order is correct before you pay.

Reset the date? A hotel booking website that has no concept of time? Sounds legit.

In other words..."I made a mistake - who can I blame it on or stamp my feet at in order to get a refund?".
