Do you live in Portsmouth or have you ever visited?

I am going there for the weekend next month and was wondering what sort of things there are to do there. What is the nightlife like and is there much to do during the day? Thanks :)

My daughter spent three years at university in Portsmouth, leaving last year. Here is what she says:

Things to do -

nightlife is only good if you like chart music.. apart from the registry by the union. gunwharf quays good for shopping and nice restaurants. stick by the student areas.

I've had a UK BFF/penpal for the past 12 years. Her sister is a student at portsmouth Uni--I've seen photos--it is very picturesque, got wonderfully manicured English gardens, and parks, very green and lush. My friend may be staying with sis next semester :o)

Only briefly for a job interview, but I suppose the Mary Rose is worth a visit. Presumably it was full of sailors at one time.
