i am trying to decide which airport to book a flight ot but it depends on the time it takes to get to the airport. Does anyone know whether stansted, luton or gatwick is closer to Primrose Hill in london?

Heathtrow is the closest airport to central london (and connected to by tube). But among your options, Stansted is more convenient for north London, where Swiss Cottage is. My favorite transportation option is take the bus from Stansted to Golders Green (north London, zone 3). Then, take the Tube (northern line) to Chalk Farm, close to Primrose Hill. Hope this helps.

Heathrow, and then it's a direct trip on the Piccadilly line. BUT... look into what it might cost to go to Gatwick or Stansted instead, taking into account the cost of the train fare to get into London. As a previous answerer points out, Ryanair uses Stansted and if you're prepared to put up with their unreasonableness, it might well be cheaper even taking into account the cost and time of the Stansted Express train into London Liverpool Street station (which takes an hour and then you have about another half an hour going round to Hammersmith by tube... though it takes the best part of an hour from Heathrow to Hammersmith anyway). This is months away so if I were you, I'd research all the possibilities of airlines and airports. Factor in cost, time, transport changes and comfort. Start with where you can get to and who with from Belfast and work from there. I did a little googling and Aer Lingus flies to Heathrow 4 times a day and easyjet flies to Stansted 4 times a day too from Aldergrove, plus there are other possibilities from Belfast City Airport that include going to Luton or Gatwick - both about as far out as Stansted. It seems that British Airways doesn't even do the London-Belfast run any more! So it's up to you. Enjoy - Frankie Boyle is GREAT and I really miss him from Mock the Week.
