I am planning a hike to the top of Mount Snowdon for children in need but am a little unprepared. I need a route, distance and i also need to know if i need to stop anywhere along the way and if so where?

well, if you are going in November, when children in need is going on, I suggest you need to go in a group, as you sound inexperienced(yes - the weather changes quickly!)

you need the right gear, and also know where you are going beforehand (there are a few paths up, so do your research)

you don't need permission as it's in a national park

I was up there in May. Snowdon is a very popular mountain. If you go on a day when the weather is nice you can follow the line of people up and down the mountain. There really is one hiking trail and it's pretty rocky in places, but nothing technical. If you feeling lazy or the weather is less the ideal you can take the train to the top. You should plan about 2-3 hours to walk to the top. The trail is very obvious and easy to follow. There are no trees so if it's sunny take a hat and apply the sun screen. Since there are no trees it would be hard to get lost in a big wide open sheep pasture. The view is of the Welsh landscape. It's beautiful and worth the effort to go to the top. There is some good technical rock climbing in the snowdon area. I believe you can hire a guide from Plas Y Brenin to take you hiking and hill walking if you feel you can't do it on your own. The British Mountaineering Council would also be a good place to find a guide and info

the llanberis path is by far the easiest route up snowdon (no you dont need permission).. it still takes all day though and you need to set off in time to get back down before it goes dark.. also check the weather as it changes quickly and even this easy path has steep drops alongside it further up... all in all though its a very nice beginners mountain climb :) make sure you have good boots with ankle support (very important!).

there is a cafe at the top which i believe is now open for business and also on this path a lil toilet block/ picnic area about half way. you should check these are open perhaps by phoning the railway station (http://www.snowdonrailway.co.uk/index.php).
