My wife and I are watching "Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares" and were both wondering the difference in a pound and a quin? Could someone please describe it to us?

A Quid. ;) It's just slang for a Pound (£1) coin.
IE:
"Do you mind if I borrow a couple of quid to get a book I want?"
"It's only couple of Quid, so it's a great price."
Like that :)

I assume you mean quid rather than quin, and the two are the same. Quid is merely a slang term for pound.

Quid is a slang term, like the British equivalent of 'buck'.

There's the quin on the backside, only she's spelled with double - e, ;)
